If you are looking for a truly unique and historic property within the Power & Light District of downtown Kansas City, Missouri, then the Hilton President is for you! The staff at Skycap News especially recommends this hotel if your travels take you to see anything held at the fabulous new Sprint Center. The hotel is situated nicely within the Power & Light which boasts of being the premier entertainment center of the Midwest. I will let our readers vote for themselves as Skycap News has always been partial to the Country Club Plaza located several miles away.
The Hilton President hotel staff is always friendly upon check-in and will have you in your preferred room within minutes. After unpacking, head downstairs to unwind in the refined foyer by enjoying an adult beverage in circa 1920’s ambiance. The Drum Room is a “must-see” even if you are staying in another (on the chance the President is sold out) downtown hotel. Savor a local Kansas City favorite, Boulevard Brewing Company beer, and ask for a menu. The food served here is far from typical “bar food,” being prepared at the amazing on-site Providence New American Kitchen.
After soaking up some “Back in the Day” Kansas City vibes, it’s time to head to bed and get some much-needed rest. One will find the rooms appropriately well appointed for a hotel within this medium-range price point. The rooms are always clean and extremely comfortable. Please keep in mind that this is a historic property and space was and is at a premium. Actually, the rooms are quite comfy unless one plans on playing a game of racquetball inside!
After a great night’s sleep, start another day off right by heading down to the Walnut Room. The breakfast buffet does not disappoint and is worth every penny or voucher if you are an HHonors Diamond Member. For those desirous of hosting a social event or a company meeting, one is unlikely to find a more tasteful setting in downtown Kansas City. For those that really like to put on a show, the President has a top floor ballroom that will wow everyone while dancing on some amazingly preserved terrazzo floors.
For those wishing to keep their workout plans in place, keeping a healthy fitness regimen throughout your stay is no problem at the Hilton President. The admin for Skycap News was even able to update this website while walking on the treadmill. Things got even more physically fit reading the latest NHL transactions from the pages of the Montreal Gazette. . . all while riding the stationary bike. The workout room is small but, extremely functional and up-to-date.
In closing, the Hilton President is an absolute must-stay property! This hotel has it all; historic charm, friendly staff, appropriate amenities, upscale food/beverage choices. . . well, everything except a swimming pool, and who cares about that while staying in downtown Kansas City in the festive Power & Light District? Cheers!
