5 Travel Tips

We share these either due to the fact that we have experienced these issues personally, or have heard or read of other’s similar experiences regarding these issues.

Top 5 Tips to Avoid Hassles on Vacation:

  1. Running out of money- This is one of the most important aspects of a vacation and it is absolutely essential to make sure you have plenty of money before, during, and after your vacation. Running out of money in the middle of your vacation pretty much means only one thing: going home. If you cannot afford lodging, food, activities, or other things on vacation, there’s really no need to continue with the trip. So follow our tips we gave earlier to save up money for your vacation so you’ll always have enough.
  2. Getting lost- Who hasn’t done this on vacation? Yes, even with today’s modern GPS systems, smart phones, and tablets, it is still possible to take a wrong turn and end up in Chicago, when you really meant to go to Panama City Beach. But, no fear, if you find yourself in this situation, just pull over and look at GPS again and use a touch of common sense. You could even use the old-fashioned idea of asking for directions if you see someone you think you can trust. Of course, use your own judgment on this.  You’ll find your way back if you trust your gut, with GPS as a valued co-pilot.
  3. Trying to do too much- Yep, I’m definitely guilt of this, how about you? We all try to do too much at times while on vacation. The key is to plan! Write down the 3 top most important things you really want to do at your destination. Consult with others in the group if you are with your family or a business group. If there are 2 or 3 of you, perhaps you could have each person put in their “2 cents” about where they want to go, what they want to do, see, eat, etc. This way, everyone has an input into the chosen activities. Then try to limit the amount of time you spend to include some relaxation time after the activity, so that everyone isn’t totally exhausted at the end of the day.
  4. Dangers on the road- Security is of the utmost importance when you are traveling, so it’s wise to take some precautions. One thing you can do is to make sure you have plenty of gas, especially if you know you are going to be driving for long stretches with no gas station available, for example. Also, be aware of your surroundings and don’t talk to people you don’t know. There are some exceptions, such as clerks that you are paying money to after a transaction and others. But avoid starting conversations with people you do not know while traveling unless there is an obvious reason you have to converse with them. This makes it less likely you could be a victim of theft, scam, or assault when traveling in strange locations.
  5. Weather situations- Weather is unpredictable. Be sure to pack an umbrella, extra clothing for possible cold weather, flashlights, extra food, and emergency kits. You never know when storms, winter weather, or other weather situations could show their ugly presence when you least expect it. Take your weather radio with you and consider subscribing to a weather service or weather app that will warn you the minute the weather takes a turn for the worse.
