This is what some consider a “stereotypical waterfall” and photographers come from thousands of miles to capture it.

If you want a truly unique experience, try traveling to this particular Fall during the winter months. Much of the Fall freezes over and creates a truly unique winter experience that is second to none. This is truly walking in a winter wonderland!
Dry Falls: Waterfall Hunting in Brevard
Have you ever heard of a waterfall that started with the word, “Dry?” Well, now you have! Dry Falls is located in the Highlands of Asheville and just outside of Brevard and Sapphire, North Carolina. The unique feature of this Fall is that you can walk underneath it without getting wet! Many people do it every year. Okay, we admit. We’ve been there and attempted to walk all the way across it from behind and we did get a little wet. But it is possible to stay relatively dry during this process! This is one of our favorite Falls because of its unique beauty and appeal and it delights people of all ages annually who travel to the area.
Sliding Rock Falls
Another interesting waterfall in the Brevard and Asheville area is Sliding Rock Falls. Unlike the other Falls, this waterfall is much smaller but it is visited by thousands yearly due to its interactive value. People can slide along the rocks leading up to the Fall all the way to the edge where they are then dumped over into the water below. It’s a fun and exciting experience for kids of all ages and continues to entertain people by providing a great dip in a natural waterfall for the finale.
Hooker Falls, Triple Falls, and High Falls
If it’s an adventure you are wanting, look no further than these three. These three waterfalls are being listed altogether due to the fact that they are located in the same general area. Hooker Falls is a short 1.5-mile walk inside DuPont Forest to the side view of the Falls. You can go across the road from here and hike about 2 miles to nearby Triple Falls. I attempted to do this once and got near the top and decided to double back because it seemed slick and I didn’t have hiking boots on!
So come prepared. You won’t want to miss this opportunity. The payoff to the steep climb upward to the top of the Falls is a birdseye view of the Falls below. The vista captures three beautiful cascading layers of crystal water bliss. High Falls is part of Triple Falls and is considered the reason many hikers want to see it in the first place. As they say, the view from the top is worth the uphill climb!
